Exion RF microneedling is a device that integrates microneedling, radiofrequency (RF) energy and artificial intelligence (AI) technology with the aim of addressing skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, texture and tone. The Exion Fractional RF system administers energy to the deeper layers of the skin, aiming to stimulate collagen and elastin production (the building-blocks of healthy skin), while the microneedles penetrate the skin to create a controlled wound-healing response, which affects skin texture. Additionally, AI technology is employed to control and optimise the delivery of energy, ensuring an efficient and precise treatment with just a single pass. This combination of technologies aims to address a number of skin issues, offering patients a comprehensive and advanced treatment option.

The recommended treatment protocol is four sessions, with a two to six week interval. Final results are often seen from six to 12 weeks after the last Exion RF Microneedling treatment.

Upon arrival, our welcoming reception staff will greet you with collagen water as you complete necessary paperwork. Following this, you’ll meet with your dermal therapist or registered nurse for a comprehensive consultation, which will include 2D & 3D imaging to assess your needs.
Your treatment will commence with our Inigo Signature triple cleansing method. Although numbing cream is optional, it’s typically not necessary due to Exion’s advanced technology. The treatment itself will last for 30-45 minutes. Following the needling component, your practitioner will apply a number of serums and a healing recovery balm.
Upon check-out, you will receive a post-care pack containing your treatment plan, post-care instructions, and scheduling for your next appointments.
The risks associated with combined microneedling and radiofrequency treatments are generally low, but it’s important to be fully informed of risks and side effects and how to minimise them.
Common side effects include temporary redness and mild swelling due to micro-injuries and RF heat. Discomfort might occur during and after treatment but can usually be managed with cold compresses and pain medication if needed. Pinpoint bleeding or bruising can occur but usually fades within a few days. Proper post-treatment care is essential to prevent infection. Results are usually noticeable about one month after treatment. However, some patients may require multiple sessions, meaning the most noticeable results can can be seen after approximately three months.
The treatment works by prompting the skin’s natural healing response, which will take time. You can see noticeable improvements as the skin produces more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.
Before your treatment, we can apply a topical numbing cream if you are concerned about discomfort. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, microneedles will be used to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface as the device’s applicator is passed over the skin.
As the microneedles puncture the skin, radio-frequency energy is simultaneously delivered to the deeper layers. This combination of micro-injuries and heat from the RF energy stimulates the skin’s natural healing response and encourages collagen and elastin production. AI carefully controls the intensity of RF energy for precise treatment. The depth of microneedle penetration and RF energy intensity can be adjusted based on your skin type, specific concerns, and treatment goals. This customisation allows for tailored treatments that address skin characteristics such as wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin texture.
You may feel warmth and a prickly sensation from the microneedles, but treatment is generally tolerable. There may be some slight redness and mild swelling in the treated area immediately following the procedure, which is a normal response to the micro-injuries and heat.
Exion Microneedling RF can be suitable for all skin types. It can be particularly suitable for those with deeper wrinkles, scarring and skin damage since the treatment targets deeper layers of the skin than alternative methods.
There are some contraindications for the treatment. These can include active infections or open wounds, as microneedles might worsen infections or hinder healing. Skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea might worsen due to RF microneedling’s mechanical and thermal effects. Those with bleeding disorders or on blood-thinning medications may experience increased bleeding and longer healing times.
