Vascular and pigmented lesions can now be treated with Lumecca IPL. A non-surgical, intense pulsed light designed to illuminate and clear your complexion in as little as two treatments.

Lumecca, developed by InMode, is a breakthrough intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment, designed to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. Using photo-thermolysis technology to target specific tissue, Lumecca is designed to heat and destroy damaged skin cells by delivering a comfortable light treatment. Following just one treatment, patients may experience a noticeable improvement in the health and clarity of the skin.

Following your Lumecca IPL treatment, you may expect to begin seeing results within a few days. For pigmentary concerns, such as sun damage, your skin will usually take on a visibly clearer, more youthful appearance after about one to two weeks. For vascular concerns, such as dilated capillaries, you may expect results within two weeks following the completion of your treatment course.

Lumecca may be performed on its own or in combination with other procedures for facial rejuvenation:

If you have pigmented or vascular lesions on the skin, that you wish to treat, Lumecca treatments may be the ideal solution for you.  You will need to have had a recent Skin Cancer Check and have a test patch performed prior to commencement of treatments to provide the best treatment outcome.   The best way to determine whether this treatment is right for you is to have a consultation at Inigo Cosmetic.

Lumecca treatments take around 30 to 60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treated area. Your dermal therapist will provide you with protective goggles before commencing with the Lumecca treatment.

You may experience a warming sensation during your treatment, similar to a light snap of an elastic band. As the Lumecca light wavelengths pass through your skin, the targeted lesions will generally move to the surface and slough off over the days following your treatment. This process is also designed to stimulate collagen production, aiming for an overall improvement in the texture and appearance of the skin. Following your treatment, you may experience some skin redness, which would generally subside within 24 hours.

There  is usually minimal downtime following a Lumecca treatment – you will be red and feel warm similar to a sunburn feeling for up to 24 hours.   You will have to avoid exercise, saunas, and steam rooms for the next 24-48 hours, but you may apply makeup and return to work and normal activities.  During this time, you may notice that your pigmented spots are darkening. Over the next week or so, these lesions will generally slowly flake off, resulting in a more even skin tone. To avoid the chance of scarring, refrain from rubbing or picking at these dark spots. When treating vascular lesions, you may notice that your veins change colour and slowly disappear as the body reabsorbs them or they may blanch out and disappear during treatment.

Following your Lumecca IPL treatments, you should avoid waxing, exfoliating or using retinoids on the treated area for at least one week. Treatments will also make your skin more sensitive to the sun: wearing an SPF 30+ or higher daily is essential.

While many patients experience a noticeable improvement in the appearance of their skin following just one treatment, a series of treatments is usually recommended for best results. We typically suggest at least two treatments, however, this will depend on the severity of your skin damage and the specific lesion targeted.

Lumecca differs from many other IPL treatments in that it uses a higher peak power to deliver superior results, meaning that fewer treatments are usually required. In fact, the Lumecca device is designed to harnesses up to three times more energy than standard IPL machines. Lumecca aims for complete photo rejuvenation in just one or two treatments.
