LUMECCA IPL INFORMATION
Find out about Lumecca IPL treatments at Inigo Cosmetic in Brisbane.
Lumecca IPL is a skin treatment that utilises Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to address various skin concerns. Lumecca works by emitting high-energy light pulses into the skin, targeting areas of pigmentation, redness, and vascular lesions. The intense light energy is absorbed by melanin and haemoglobin in the skin, effectively breaking down pigmented lesions and coagulating blood vessels. As a result, Lumecca IPL is designed for sunspots, age spots, rosacea, and vascular lesions, while simultaneously promoting collagen production.
Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body and is specifically designed to act on vascular and pigmented lesions, including:
- Telangiectasias
- Angiomas
- Rosacea
- Poikiloderma
- Age spots
- Freckles
- Sun damage
- Surgical scarring (vascular / redness)
Lumecca IPL can be used on various areas of the body including the:
- Face
- Neck
- Décolletage
- Arms
- Legs
- Breast scarring

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you have pigmented or vascular lesions on the skin, that you wish to treat, Lumecca treatments may be an appropriate treatment option for you. You will need to have had a recent Skin Cancer Check and have a test patch performed prior to commencement of treatments. The best way to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you is to have a consultation at Inigo Cosmetic.
Lumecca treatments take around 30 to 60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treated area. Your dermal therapist will provide you with protective goggles before commencing with the Lumecca treatment.
You may experience a warming sensation during your treatment, similar to a light snap of an elastic band. As the Lumecca light wavelengths pass through your skin, the targeted lesions will generally move to the surface and slough off over the days following your treatment. Following your treatment, you may experience some skin redness, which will generally subside within 24 hours.
There is usually minimal downtime following a Lumecca treatment – you will be red and feel warm similar to the feeling of a sunburn for up to 24 hours. You will have to avoid exercise, saunas, and steam rooms for the next 24-48 hours, but you may apply makeup and return to work and normal activities. During this time, you may notice that your pigmented spots are darkening. Over the next week or so, these lesions will generally slowly flake off, resulting in a more even skin tone. To avoid the chance of scarring, refrain from rubbing or picking at these dark spots. When treating vascular lesions, you may notice that your veins change colour and slowly disappear as the body reabsorbs them or they may blanch out and disappear during treatment.
Following your Lumecca IPL treatments, you should avoid waxing, exfoliating or using retinoids on the treated area for at least one week. Treatments will also make your skin more sensitive to the sun: wearing an SPF 30+ or higher daily is essential.
The recommended treatment protocol involves at least two treatments, however, this will depend on the severity of your skin damage and the specific lesion targeted.
Lumecca differs from many other IPL treatments in that it uses a higher peak power to deliver, meaning that fewer treatments are usually required. In fact, the Lumecca device is designed to harnesses up to three times more energy than standard IPL machines. Lumecca aims for complete photo rejuvenation in just one or two treatments.
