Lumecca IPL Consent

HOW IT WORKS

Lumecca by Inmode is a powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment designed to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. IPL releases light at many different wavelengths and is more scattered than a regular laser.

IPL has the ability to penetrate down to the second layer of skin (the dermis), without affecting the top layer (the epidermis) meaning there is little to no damage done to the skin.

After just one use, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin.

TREATMENT BENEFITS

  • Age spots & pigmentation.
  • Vascular lesions: spider veins and poikiloderma.
  • Rosacea (redness).
  • Freckles.
  • Sun damage.

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun: face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.

RESULTS

Results can be seen after the first session, but multiple sessions are recommended depending on skin concerns. Factors such as genetics and lifestyle factors (diet, sun exposure, smoking status, and overall skin health) may affect results. Maintenance sessions can be performed every 4 – 8 weeks.

ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS

RF Microneedling or topical intervention.

PATIENTS UNSUITABLE FOR TREATMENT

  • Pacemakers or implantable devices (including IUD).
  • Pregnancy.
  • Heart disorder.
  • Hemorrhagic conditions or anticoagulation therapy.
  • Malignant tumour.
  • Fever.

RISK & SIDE EFFECTS

  • Bacterial, viral or fungal infections can occur post procedure. Treatment around the lip area may trigger recurrence of cold sores which may require treatment.
  • PIHP (post inflammatory hyper or hypo pigmentation), in most cases this will resolve with time, a prescription cream can be provided to aid the recovery.
  • Burns, blisters, bruising, hair loss, and uneven treatment may occur.
  • Dissatisfaction: I understand that with all treatments the precise degree of improvement cannot be guaranteed. The outcome’s subjective nature also means dissatisfaction is a possible outcome regardless of effectiveness of treatment.
  • I understand that the initial treatment of side effects and complications is included in the cost of the procedure and therefore no refund is issued due to any of the above occurring.
  • Additional or alternative cosmetic treatments may be needed for optimal results and further expenditure will be required.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The treatment is performed in clinic and will take around 20 minutes to complete. During your treatment there will be a bright flash of light from the machine that feels like a light snap of an elastic band.

There will be redness and a warming sensation of the skin which should subside within an hour. Over the next 24 – 48 hours the pigmented spots will darken and will gentle flake off after a week.
