Vaser Liposuction vs. Traditional Liposuction
Vaser liposuction (VASERLipo) is an advanced form of liposuction that uses ultrasound technology. The ultrasound waves liquefy the unwanted fat cells, so they are easily removed via suction to create smooth contours. Unlike traditional liposuction, Vaser liposuction has several advantages:
Ultrasound technology is a gentle, less aggressive approach as it preserves the surrounding tissue: connective tissue, nerves and blood vessels. This means less pain and a faster recovery with less downtime.
Vaser liposuction melts the fat before gently suctioning it out, which means more fat can be removed than other methods.
Vaser liposuction is powerful enough to eliminate large areas of fat and gentle enough to treat more delicate areas, which allows for precision sculpting.
Ultrasonic energy promotes skin retraction, providing smooth contours. This effect is amplified when VASERLipo is combined with Renuvion Skin Tightening.
Due to the gentle nature of removal, the fat extracted is high quality, making it ideal to use for fat transfer and fat grafting.
The Vaser Liposuction Procedure
The procedure can be performed under a general or local anaesthetic depending on the treatment area.
Vaser liposuction consists of four stages
The fatty layer is infused (injected) with tumescent fluid that contains anaesthetic to numb the area and soften the fat cells.
The high-frequency vibration of Vaser ultrasonic probes causes the fat cells to break apart and liquify into the tumescent solution.
The liquified fat is easily removed via a specially designed thin tube (cannula).
During the healing process, the skin will retract and shrink to provide a smooth, natural-looking result.
Recovery from a Vaser Liposuction
While recovery varies from patient to patient, most patients describe the sensation as mild aches and pressure rather than pain. We ensure your post-operative comfort with oral pain medication prescribed after the procedure.
Most patients can return to work or their normal daily activities after three days. When combining Renuvion with procedures such as liposuction, it will not add any extra time to recovery.
Patients are required to wear a compression garment continuously for around six weeks. This will reduce swelling and help mould the treatment area to avoid lumps and contour irregularities. Major swelling usually subsides by three months, and the final result will be noticeable after six to twelve months.

Vaser Liposuction and Renuvion Skin Tightening
The removal of fat may result in loose skin in the treatment area. For best results, we recommend that Vaser liposuction is performed alongside Renuvion Skin Tightening.
Renuvion Skin Tightening is a minimally invasive medical device that combines helium plasma and radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat the tissues directly beneath the skin and stimulate tissue contraction from the inside out, creating a smooth, lifted and sculpted appearance.
Adding Renuvion Skin Tightening to the Vaser liposuction procedure will not result in any extra recovery time or scarring.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All surgeries carry associated complications and risks. Including: bleeding, infection, reaction to anaesthesia, or dissatisfaction with cosmetic result. Please refer to the Vaser Liposuction Information Sheet and Surgical Consent for more information.
Liposuction permanently removes fat cells, however patients can still gain or lose weight. The liposuction treatment area may appear lumpy if a large amount of weight is gained.
Vaser liposuction 360 involves contouring and shaping the entire midsection – 360 degrees around. The possible areas for treatment are the upper and lower abdominals, the flanks on both sides, and the lower and mid-back.
There will be postoperative swelling immediately after surgery. This usually starts to resolve at around one to three months, with the final result visible after around 12 months. VASERLipo produces less swelling than traditional liposuction methods so results are noticeable sooner.
No, liposuction will only remove subcutaneous fat. It is unable to remove the deep visceral fat found around the organs.
Liposuction alone will not treat cellulite, and in some cases may make the appearance more obvious due to loose skin. Cellulite is best treated with Liposuction combined with Renuvion Skin Tightening.
The fat cells that are removed during liposuction are removed permanently, however patients can still gain weight.
Liposuction incisions are small (less than two cm) and can be strategically placed. Scarring is minimal and will fade over time with appropriate postoperative care.
A tummy tuck involves removal of excess abdominal skin, tissue, and may involve muscle repair (stitching the abdominal muscles together). A tummy tuck is best suited for patients who have lost a large amount of weight or who have had children.
Abdominal liposuction involves the removal of fat only from the abdomen. The removal of fat may result in loose skin, therefore additional procedures such as a tummy tuck or Renuvion Skin Tightening may be required to provide best results.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that will physically and permanently remove fat cells. CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure, that requires multiple treatments to freeze fat cells, allowing them to be absorbed and eliminated by the body.
The cost of your Vaser liposuction procedure can be broken down into three main components: the surgeon’s fee charged by our surgeon, anaesthetist fees and hospital fees. At Inigo Cosmetic, we customise our surgeries to each individual patient. To receive a detailed cost breakdown, please get in touch to book a consultation with one of our surgeons.
